About Josh

Josh is a storyboard artist, illustrator and sculptor who has been working professionally in the industry since 2002. Josh Hagen grew up in scenic North Dakota.  The quiet nature of his surroundings meant Josh spent plenty of time sketching in front of the television developing a love for the varied images and characters he saw there. As a kid Josh started drawing his favorite characters and imitating the styles of his favorite illustrators. He took this love with him to Jamestown College ND, where he majored in Fine Arts.  Josh moved to Savannah, GA to pursue his Masters Degree in sequential art at the Savannah College of Art and Design.  It was there that he decided to bring his childhood loves of film and art together focusing on illustration and then expanding to sculpture for film and television.

When Josh finished his degree, he moved to Los Angeles where he worked hard to establish himself in the entertainment business. In Los Angeles Josh had the opportunity to meet and work with some of the best; interning at Almost Human FX and becoming a student of Jordu Schell.  Josh worked in LA primarily as a storyboard artist but also created illustration and sculpture work for various clients.

After five years in California, Josh and his wife Michelle moved back to North Dakota where Josh established Troll Hagen Studios.  Josh

continues to illustrate and sculpt from North Dakota with clients from across the country.
